Operation Kingfish Empty
PostSubject: Operation Kingfish   Operation Kingfish EmptyThu Feb 16, 2012 12:49 am

The situation is this: A terrorists cell has basically taken over the area known as Oman. A nearby Amphibious Assault Ship, the USS Green Bay, is currently located in the vicinity of this area. On-board the ship, the 13th MEU is preparing its deployment to Oman in support of Peace-keeping operations and Regional stability.

The Operation is code-named: KINGFISH. This event will be a combination of a realism simulator and basically a Chain of Command Communications training simulator. This Operation will give you a better understanding of how the Chain of Command works in the clan and basically how critical good communication is.

Basically how this will work is there will be a Commander, Team Leaders, and Team Members. Each player will have certain jobs and roles such as piloting, driving, sniping (providing Overwatch), infantry, etc. Similarly, Teams, will be assigned certain roles too such as providing MEDEVAC, On the ground boots, etc.

Teams will be grouped into teams of four (4) on the day of the Operation. Team leaders will be Squad Staff members and/or members we feel ready for the position. Team leaders will be using the Channel Commander feature of TS3. We will be communicating just like how the VoIP system in BF2 works. Teams and team leaders must listen for orders from superiors. This Operation isn't your normal run 'n' gun type of scrimmage. This is a realistic simulator. So there will be road marches, members driving vehicles (and staying in them: these babies are real expensive), real house clearing, overwatch, etc.

The opposition will be volunteers from non-Foxtrot Company units. It won't be like a normal scrim so these guys won't be like knifing you or shooting you normally, etc. (doesn't mean we won't have non-F Company members in the 13th MEU)

This map, created a few weeks ago is a basic idea of how this will work, but with a little more complexity:

Operation Kingfish Oman_p10

Basically I'd like to know if you guys were interested

What times would you like it? I was wanting to do this either Next Saturday (Feb 25th) or the Saturday after that (Mar 3rd) at 3pm EST so that both EU and US members can attend. Might change it to 4pm. Either way, I'd like SS members in here an hour earlier to setup for the Operation.

And lastly, I'd like if you would discuss what positions you want, etc.

I will love to perform this. Next Saturday is great for me, since I have Winter Break this upcoming week. So expect me there!

However, what certain roles can be played? If anything, I would love to play an Infantry Role, but that is a bit too broad I believe. Mind breaking some of it down that would be for infantry?

Well there will be opposition from the enemies like having enemy snipers, enemies using RPG, etc. However I don't want enemies wiping out entire squads or anything like that so we'll have some limitation to it.

I guess we'll be doing it both Saturdays then...

Rome man all you need to do is download P4F and Ts3 lol

And deadly, infantry (most people will be here anyway) will just be on the ground listening to orders like to move to the hotel or river fortification, etc.

So I guess I'll make the time 4pm EST next Saturday 25th, 9 days from now.

hey u know how there will be heli's transporting troops can we have the pilots of those helis come pick up a squad who has completed there objective in their current location to either a new location with new mission or like back to the ship. Something like that perhaps just for getting some squads around the map.

BTW u can count me in on this but i want to bring my Assault class if possible!

Well I mean in general. What are all roles that can be covered, because infantry, piloting, and driving are too broad. Let's say, break it down,

i.e. Piloting> Transport> Transport Squad. Export Squad. Assault> Infantry Assault.

Get the picture?

Well there's going to be teams of 4. Depending on how many we have, we'll probably have a whole team dedicated to just transporting people/medevac. We might have a chopper pilot and he'll have to stay in there the whole round. Boat drivers the same thing basically.

For infantry each team will have something like 2 medics, 1 assault, and either 1 engineer or recon (itll vary between each team though). I don't have specific roles for anyone like being a Point Man or something. You might get a role by your team leader to be first in to clear a house or something.

I don't know how much more specific I can make it

Infantry Branch:

4 Divisions:

- Demolitions/Anti-Tank Operations- Able Firing Team: Eliminate threats with the use of explosives

- Reconnaisance/Overwatch Operations- Baker Firing Team: Spot threats with the use of long-range recon scans and suppresive/cover fire

- Close-Quarters Assault- Easy Firing Team: Get up close and personal with the use of tight spaces and attack/flank routes

- Support Unit- Granite Firing Team: A unit that will be the garrison/reinforcements in a firefight if requested.

Any concerns, questions, etc.?

Notes:

- Support units will merge with squads for extra assistance. Able will merge with Easy, and Granite will merge with Baker, to provide more action.

- Your Team Leader will decide Point Man, Specialist, Backbone etc.

-Also, I will consider using X-Fire to record, but someone has to teach me how to upload really. Never tried.

Deadly...this is too complicated...not that I can't comprehend it but we're not going to have like 2 boat teams (remember a team is 4 people). At most we'll have 1-2 logistics team (like transporting people.) It'll really only be 1 full squad is a logistical team but the CO's team will have other members who are able to provide logistics (like overwatch, maybe transport).

In the transport squad, there's 4 people:

1 could drive a boat, 1 the chopper, and the other 2 could rotate as driving humvees or the other boats/choppers.

So for that thats 8 people that are already doing non-combat roles. That might be too much itself depending on how many people we actually have for this event.

The way I viewed it is, 1 driver for each Transport team. This means 4 drivers/pilots. 1 for the boats, 1 for the chopper, and 2 for the Hummve. That means each squad will go in either vehicles... How did you get 8?'

Also, do you want me to revise it to take out Assault as a division? I mean, if this is a realistic simulator, then why would there be air, ground, boat, and infantry fights? Once in a blue moon do you see that battle!

Chaos you're not getting this....uhm the point of this is to be able to communicate up the chain of command and to clear comms and stuff like that. So there's basically going to be 3 types of teams:

The CO's team
The Logistics team
The Infantry teams

Each will have 4 people, each will have 1 team leader (for the CO's team, the CO is the team leader). See this is where the communication part kicks in....someone not in your team, not in your TS channel is going to be driving your squad -- someone you will have no real communication with except through the chain of command.

There's only 1 CO team and 1 Logistics team (2x4 = Cool. How many infantry teams we have will depend on whos left and all.

I see. I was unclear about the types of teams.

Now, is it 4 people, excluding the Team Leader?

So basically, what is each team's role?

CO Team: ?
Logistics Team: ?
Infantry Team: ?

PostSubject: Re: Operation Kingfish   Operation Kingfish EmptyFri Feb 17, 2012 12:38 am

4 people including the team leader, USMC squads have 13 people with 4 people in each fireteam so this is what we're basing it off.

CO's team... Well the CO is to coordinate all the other team leaders and stuff. Snipers and who ever else in this team gets directed what to do by the CO. I say snipers because they are also the artillerymen and stuff

Logistics will be the drivers of the boats, chopper, and humvees. At first I guess we could use like 2 boats and 2 choppers. After 1 boat and 1 chopper are returned, 2 people in that team could be used to drive 2 humvees to transport teams that need transport. It takes 2 because only 4 people can fit in a humvee.

Medevac will work like this: If a member in a team has been shot down (or maybe severely hurt), the team leader will call CO for medevac. CO will return the request by calling the Logistics team for a medevac at whereever needed. Chopper will pick him up and return him to the carrier. The chopper might have to pick up multiple people. The chopper will return from the carrier to A, the beachhead (MEU's land base) and from there they can get transport from Humvees to return to their units location.

So basically, there will be a lot of coordination going on. I sort of like to think of it like threading on a CPU

It's like how a thread moves from hardware (like a keyboard) up through the layers to the processor and then the processor moves it down to the layers back through the layers and to the hardware (like a printer)

EDIT: Medevac is a full time job. I know a lot of people want to fly a chopper but I'm not sure how many people are actually committed enough to stay in the chopper the whole round.
