| EasyDelta, you deserve that Bronze Star, maybe more. You risked your life to save another, that is in fact, very brave. If you were to ask any other valor award recipients, they will say exactly what you say "I was doing my job." Your job is to protect others, and that involves bravery. Thank you for your service! |

Thanks bro! Glad to see people appreciate what we all do. My commander said whenever I want the bronze star he will gladly recommend me for one even though I'm out (which is possible). - williamdanm1 wrote:
- i was actually thinking of joining the US Army or the US Navy when i graduate. i still have four years to decide but i was thinking more of joining the navy but i have a question about the army:
wat career oprotunities are there in the army? on topic: how was the time u spent in iraq? Opportunities are great but it's the same with all branches. For example, go infantry and your only REAL choice when you get out is being a cop or security guard lol. Take me, I went for Computer Networking and troubleshooting, and I can get a corporate job networking easily (I've been offered by 2 different places). And the Army gets all the FUN toys to play with heehee (think: robotics, guns, explosives, etc). On topic: Iraq was great. I was there in 08 when the fighting wasnt as bad as it was back in 03 and stuff. Its not bad man. Afghanistan is totally different from what I hear. |

| Well, first of all, thank you for your service. This clan is one that, supports our military, even when its country may not at times. But yeah, it must've been crazy to be you, but humbling it must be Thanks, Bronx PS: What exactly did it feel like if I may ask? Was it like a metal hammer being thrown at your back or something worse? Was it your vertebrate or some other part of your back? |

I have the Purple Heart to prove it too. I turned down the Bronze Star because I mean, I didn't really DO anything, I just did my job ya know. I did get a letter from our Commander praising my actions that saved the Corporal that night, and each of the two squads got letters as well.
Funny thing is, I was trained for COMPUTER NETWORKING lol, not infantry tactics like this, but that night we were all Soldiers, all infantry. First, I respect any service that has been done in the name of your country, however, I will have to pick on you before I praise you. I've said this several times before: "There is Infantry, and Infantry support". So, no, you were not Infantry that night. You are either Infantry, or you're not; and you're not. Esprit de Corps. Sorry, just a et peeve of mine. Now, with that said, and my 11C asshole side out of the way, I want to thank you for your service, and want you to know that what you did is more than many Infantrymen I know have done. So, be proud and claim the act as a member of the commo corps. Maybe I'll tell you guys my war stories sometime. Still haven't felt a need to post it, so probably not. However, I will say that when I was active duty I wounded in Iraq in 2004 while I was a Specialist (USMC = Corporal) and left Active duty. I've served in the Reserve since 2005. I just got medically cleared to go back to Active, so, Direct Commission HERE I COME! During my time in the Army I've done the following: Infantry team member, Mortar Assistant Gunner, Mortar Gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sgt, IED Instructor, BRM Instructor, Combat Marksmanship Instructor, Landnav Instructor, CBRN Instructor, First Aid / CPR Instructor, Combat Life Saver, First Responder, LDAC Cadre, Duty Appointed Retention NCO, Raven SUAV Pilot. My MOS is 11C38. Also, I love long walks on the beach and puppies with big paws. Easy, if you want to come back in, they can do a waver, you just need to try hard enough. My recommendation: You've served your time in hell. Also, to all you non-us members, you can serve a max of eight years without being a citizen. You cannot obtain a clearance higher than classified, and you cannot be promoted above Staff Sergeant, or be commissioned or warranted. I joined when I was 17. I dropped out of highschool and joined with a GED. I now have my Associates in Arts and Science and am going to school for my Bachelors in Education. All on the Army's dime. LOL Good times. Other service members should spout off with their info. SSG Warren - FTMBrushFire 3/414 (LDAC) 104 Div [NIGHTFIGHTERS] Infantry |

| Good to see other members with actual military experience in the clan. I myself have been in the Canadian Forces for a few years now(1 year fulltime before frigging my back up during a urban warfare training phase, 2 years Pres(Primary Reserve) I am going back fulltime within the next year as well but can only go in the supporting arms and not combat. |

| Easy, i gotta tell ya, anyone in this country, whether they agree with the war or not, should be damn proud of you. You went beyond the call of duty, and we're all thankful for that. I've heard some crazy stories from my uncle. He's a Colonel and commands a Base in either Arkansas or Georgia (hes had both but one was recently shut down, can't remember which) He's trained soldiers since the rank of corporal (he was, and still holds the "record", the Lowest ranking instructor at West Point) around 30 years ago and he keeps in touch with many of the soldiers he's trained (mostly the newer ones as he lost contact with his past ones) He's told me stories of soldiers getting wounded, or showing heroism in the middle east that you wouldn't believe, and your goes right up there with them. Now as for getting shot in the back, I know a man who could tell you just how lucky you are. My dad is a teacher and one of his colleagues had a son in the army rangers serving in Fellujah in 2006 (maybe earlier, maybe later) He was doing a patrol when he was spotted by an insurgent sniper and was shot in the back barely missing his spine. Thankfully he lived, but he spent 6 months in the hospital and another year in rehab for physical therapy. For the first few weeks he was paralyzed from the neck down, but swelling of muscle around the wound decreased so he regained use of his arms, he's still paralyzed from the waist down. Thankfully he's a live and thankfully you weren't hurt worse than you were. You're a real hero whether you believe it or not, and we all owe people like you for everything you've done.
