| For about the last several months I have had problems with my xbox and laptop connecting to my WiFi. We called our provider and the guy changed a bunch of settings on our modem and my laptop seems to be getting a much faster connection, but my xbox still is having trouble. I've had the same wifi adapter on my xbox for probably the last 2-3 years, do they go bad after a while and have to be replaced? If anyone knows or has had any experience with these adapters can you give me an answer. I'd like to know so I don't go out and spend $60.00 on something that my not change my speed. |

| I am not sure, I don't think they do, I always play on wifi at my dads and never have problems. Why dont you just buy a cable? |

| If you have a laptop with an ethernet port (which is should have) just use the ethernet cable that the xbox should have come with and connect it that way. If you have a good wifi connection through your laptop then you'll have a good connection for your xbox too! |

| Oh yeah see apple, that is a good idea, what ninja proposed. You might need a crossover cable for that though (just a special ethernet cable with 2 pairs of wiring switched) |

| Not so fast guys. I would assume that because Apple is using a wireless adapter that he can't directly connect his Xbox to his router. Am I right? Because if you could, what purpose would the wireless adapter serve? |

Well it wouldn't be practical, correct. His laptop, however, can connect to the router perfectly; he should just connect to the laptop or move his xbox 360 a little closer. 60 feet away from a wireless device is a lot with all the walls and doors in between. |

| True, but what if his laptop is connected to the router in a completely different room down the hall or 60 feet from his Xbox?
I say this because the best connection you can get obviously is with your Xbox directly hardwired to your router. Using a medium such as your laptop (if you can even connect the laptop to your Xbox within a reasonable distance), it really slows down the connection. |

| I use an older white B/G WiFi adapter, and I thought it was broken as I had a bad, like REALLY bad laggy connection on a 17Meg/sec connection, but since I moved, it has been working much better on a 6Meg/sec connection. I think that in certain installations they seem to be prone to interferrence.
Have you thought about reconfiguring your layout to move the Xbox, and adapter away from other electrtical devices ..? |
