Is anyone out there a fan of the Mechwarrior series? I have been a fan since MW2: Mercs and was sad when

1) Microsoft took over
2) Microsoft threw the game in the basement and forgot about it.

Back in 2009 the announcement of a MW reboot was definitely awesome news. The trailer looked incredible. But... because of legal reason and lack of support from publishers the title was once again in the back burner.

Now it looks like they are coming out with a new version... Mechwarrior Online.

Although it does not have a campaign mode, it will be a Play for Free online game for the PC, and maybe the Xbox and it is set to release this summer.

So what do you guys think? Anyone know any good details that could save some of us the hustle of going back and trying to read all the forums out there?

The same people are making MechWarrior: Tactics that looks to be launching in 5 days http://www.mwtactics.com/ although some seem to think this is for downloadable and social games.

Yeah. That is the video trailer they showed in 2009. Notice that it says actual gameplay. That is how the game was going to look. But that was scrapped.

The website you posted to MW online is the developer's site for the new game MW online. Same people that made the trailer, but it ended up that no publishers were interested because Microsoft would not allow a PS3 version of the game.

I signed up for the site and read some of their forums. It looks like that game will come out in the summer of this year. I have also "liked" their Facebook page. We'll see what comes of it.

Basically I was looking to see if there were any fans of the series out there.

pretty sure that video was for the new Mechwarrior game thats coming out 7 or what ever number they are on now read about it in a gameinformer but im not sure if they are making it an MMO now, i hope not cause i dont like to pay monthly fees for videogames

It will be free to play online only game.
