| as we can all see, the vent server is down but I would like to hear some suggestions for a temporary fix for this problem. Maybe a recommended free vent server we can raid, I know theirs a good number of them open to the public. Or I have always heard ZenosyX recommend Mumble, which is a free voice chat thing |

| raiding a vent server just means we all get on it. kinda like raiding a P4F server, we all get on the same server and just take it over. same concept. |

| Ok, Here are a few public vents I have found - each supports a large number of players, only problem of course is we aren't in control, we would have to communicate which one we go too and where in that server, and possibly dealing with Trolls and Vent harassment lol leading to a possible youtube video AS FOR MUMBLE - Someone would have to set it up of course |

| Mumble is "om nom nom" with big "G" :P but anyway, these kind of things are mostly a matter of preferences and habits. most people are hesitant to try new things, it's in our nature. so why not just checking the alternatives and then have people posting what they've found out? a bit like gamerecensions to introduce new games; writing thoughts and settings etc etc for others to hear more about it.
personally I stick to my recommendation though, I think it has valid arguments for its cause ;) I mean, it's free to host your own server as well as the free clients (there are of course posibilities to rent a server if that's more attractive). the servers can be setup pretty much as you want to with as many slots as you want to etc etc. the only limit is the bandwidth, even though Mumble only use a very small amount. connection speed exceed ventrilo by miles. qualitywise then I'd compare it as vent being like the old 8-bit sounds while Mumble would be like the HD MP3s out there today. ... a bit exaggerated but still, the difference is big o-o Nmd tried it and noticed a difference ^.<
either way, if people are hesitant and want to try it out before deciding anything they can just pop into a friend's public Mumble to check out the program? that's also where I've been when I've jumped between vent and mumble talking with both sides at once while we've been gaming :P (and people said guys can't multitask, tsk)
(text too long, became to scared to try finding errors to correct v.v) |

| it may be too early to decide something permanent right away. this info work to my friend's mumble server if people want to check out how that program is in action:
IP: ZenosyX.dyndns.org Port: 3784
password: 2010
besides, otherwise I just realized something; doesn't Xfire have some sort of function to temporary create voip servers/chats? oh well, I got no experience there so I should probably leave it at that. |

| oh, you may want to disable the overlay function. it's in configure -> settings -> Overlay. I have it disabled at least, it shows who's in your channel and who's talking in an overlay ingame. personally I think they ruined it when they made it all flashy, it was better when it was just the names |

| Lol. Well trying it out now in Zeno's server. It seems good and easy to understand, just gotta get through the audio set up. Its interface is different then vent as its a step process. But It works, and the sound effects are all like bloop, ding ding ding lol
so I have both the free vent servers saved, and mumble set up. so whoever is in the mood for either I'm down....wait, that sounded slightly dirty. Or maybe its just me |

| it's fairly easy to understand but still have the hardcore settings for the more dedicated users who want to set everything up with their extra customization beyond the walkthrough-setup |
