PlayStation Network Coming Back Online Written By: MGYSGT GhostOps21
The events between April 17 and 19 will be pretty unforgettable for most PlayStation 3 users. Over 77 million accounts were compromised by hackers, (and their identity still a mystery, although some suspect AnonOps as behind it, they deny it, and the hackers identities may never be known.) and the PlayStation Network shutdown. This left gamers without access to any online portion of their account, and their credit card and personal information completely exposed.
Three weeks later, Sony announced that they would resume online functions in stages (starting today). Sony will require PSN users to download the mandatory 3.61 firmware update, change their PSN and Qriocity passwords, and can only be changed on the same PS3 in which your account was activated or through validated e-mail confirmation. Sony said it will also offer registered users a "Welcome Back" program that includes 30 days of PlayStation Plus, plus one day for each day that Sony Online services were down. But while Online services will be restored, this will only bring back gaming, not the Store function or purchases.
During the PSN downtime, there had been some fun poked at Sony for their security, even in the 13th MEU itself here. So now that service will be coming back, what are your thoughts? (Just a little bit late due to account problems.)
