So what's the verdict on CoD:BO?

I'm actually really enjoying it.

I haven't played any of the campaign yet but the MP is really fun. It does have some drawbacks however with having to pay for everything (including killstreaks) and that damn RC car is annoying (obtained at 3 killstreak). Too many of those IMO, they should have put that at a higher killstreak.

Kind of nitpicking at this point, but I'm really enjoying it.

Overall I like it, there are some issues at least IMO.

Multiplayer with parties: Lots of connection issues, not getting into lobbies, members kicked constantly. I have heard they are working towards a patch for all that.

Spawning: The spawning is terrible, but I guess all games of this type have some spawning issues. Enemies spawn behind you a lot, and directly in front of you. But no biggie really.

When I saw "Black Ops" as a title I had my hopes up for a game that would mimick RL SF operations, and in the campaign there is one or two missions that lets you use stealth. But mostly you run and gun against an army of enemies.

I definitely agree about the XBL party system. It really is a huge pain for me right now. I'm praying they come out with a patch for it soon.
