OK, I have been stumped for a while. I have downloaded the patches to upgrade to the current version. Since I have just re-installed the game I'm at version 1.0 something. When I launch the patch it says it cant find the install folder for BF2 but there's no way for me to direct it to the BF2 folder. Very frustrating since the 13th MEU games with version 1.5. Since Im the new boot here I figure I have a little time to get it fixed but cant seem to find out how. So if someone could shed some light that would be great.
I'm running on a windows Vista Home HP laptop 3 GB ram, duel core 2. ghz

This might help, I think it's the same problem you have.

And what order were you trying to download the patches? It's supposed to go like this I believe:


Battlefield 2
BF2 v1.41
BF2: Special Forces (if you have it, this is optional, but if you do, you will need to install 1.41 again)
BF2 v.1.50

Im not much of a program writer, but this is a great start. I got the data string to read it but Im still playing with it, 1.41 finaly loaded but when I started the game it still showed it as the 1.0 version. I keep at it but at least you brought me some hope.

OK, back with sad news, though I believed I was able to use the regedit information, as stated it did not show any updated versions, and when I went live to multi player it said the key code was already in action, possibly stolen and I may have to contact EA games support for help.
So, uninstalled the whole game and reinstalled. I will have to find a patch that will include a work around for vista operating system.
Till then I will practice and get my game in shape.

Bummed out and going to go kill something.

I had those problems when I had Vista, but only a few times. All I did is reinstall and it worked. Now, I have Windows 7. Not even 1 error/problem whatsoever.

when you load up the game run as admin i had a little prob like that but when i done that it worked fine
