Today, we honor all of the brave men and women who have served this great country in uniform. We honor their commitment and their patriotism in defending our nation. These men and women served without hesitation and fought for the very ideals that make this country great. Many of those individuals made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms, and words will never be enough to express the gratitude and debt our nation owes to both them and their families.
After a decade of sustained combat, and as a new generation of veterans begins to come home, it has never been more important to recognize the sacred obligation we have to the members of our armed forces, and to provide and care for those who have served us so well.
Our veterans have made great sacrifices for us. We must ensure that when they return, these brave men and women are provided with the highest quality health care, that their families are cared for in times of need, and that their contributions are never forgotten.
Today, we must also remember those currently serving in the armed forces. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families that they return safely and swiftly.
I want to thank those who have served our great state and nation, and extend my gratitude to all who help make this country safe.
Sincerely,
AXX

Today at school we held our Big Veterans Days assembly, and I was honored to see my Grand Dad be included in the ceremony (I think he always has but still.) But I want everyone to remember what this day is for, and to remember the men and women who fighting for us over seas right now, and most importantly the ones who won't be making it back, one of my closest friends lost her cousin this past weekend when he was in Afghanistan. Always pray for, and remember those who are fighting for us.

our middle school always held a veterans day ceremony, in which my grandfather participated once, but our high school just has a little history thing, and then a moment of silence for those who served, but i think that its just as good as a big ceremony as long as it delivers the same message. OORAH to those who serve, will serve, and have served

When I was in the county choir in 7th grade, we sang this song at an Army base on veterans day. We held the hands of a veteran and sang this while looking into their eyes to show our appreciation for what they did for us. I still remember that day, seeing veterans tearing up while little boys sang their thanks and gratefulness. That was one sight to remember. These ordinary people risk their lives to defend their country, in order for us at home to live safely and peacefully at home. I'd like to thank everyone who is serving their country, who has served their country, and who died for their country. God bless us all.

I was driving to work today and they put out several miles of huge American flags down the main highway in the center median. I did a small salute (to no one in particular) but I've had an uncle that was in the Navy during the first Gulf War.

We also had a small ceremony at my high school, and there were like 10 of our teachers who served and are serving. We also have loads of American flags set down at a place by our local bell tower in my town.

Yes, and as a clan named after a unit in the Armed Forces, we are pro-military and support Military and its way of functioning. I thank all the men and women who served; its just an everyday reminder of how thankful we should be to live in a great country like the United States of America. Well, not all of us live in the US, but err ya know what I mean.

The vast majority who don't live in a free democratic country because of the US. During WWII without the United States it's likely that my country would have been overrun as was most of Europe, and I would also like to remember the Free French, German emigre, Free Polish and Commonwealth soldiers that put their lives alongside those of the UK.

I personally don't support military as I am very anti -war person. I think wars cause harm and have no actual point exept the deaths of many people .
I believe that wars should be ended and then we could stopthe suffering (there are certain things I strongly am against with all countieres such as Britains expation and colonization of the world in the 1800 and the Vietnam war. All of which didn't need to happen
I do remeber the brave soilders especially my great grandfather who fough during WW2 in the Russian army and later the British
Thank you soilders and maybe one day there will be no wars

Wars are just a pleasant way for humans to say "I hate you."

Well said,
"War is a diplomats mistake in a meeting..." - I made that up.
It is not a soldier's fault for war, and on either side he should be respected for having the courage to serve for war. The leader's should be the ones that need to be sitting in a POW camp serving crimes. - I heard this a long time ago.
If you can't get them to salute when they should salute and wear the clothes you tell them to wear, how are you going to get them to die for their country? - General George Patton Jr
Anyways, our soldiers should be respected for what they have done for us. I salute them from my computer chair and I wish them the best. They make a difference and keep us free every day.

On the radio, one veteran said that (s)he does not want to be thanked by our cowardly society. Now I have to write an essay on that statement my teacher heard. >.< This is what I get for having Veterans Day off.

As I always say, thank you for the thank you. I appreciate that other people appreciate what we do.
And it sickens me that some schools/businesses don't observe Veteran's Day. No one would be where they are today if it weren't for the men and women that served before us.
