| Subject: 13th MEU Newsletter - May '12 Fri May 04, 2012 2:39 pm | |
| Image by: TristerMay '12 Edition See how squadmembers team up to help a fellow squadmate, the increaese in scrimmage activity, the birth of the ACE Team, and an outstanding recruiting month breaking previous records. There wasn't a Newsletter for April becuase there just wasn't a whole lot going on. We had the Chaos Cup and Operation Kingfish which was pretty successful but, other than that not much. Now there couldn't be any more things going on in April. With everything that is going on, it's difficult to know what's going on with others and the 13th in general and we become separated. The newsletter is to bring all of us a little closer, to close the gap between divisions, platoons, and even squads. So here is May's Newsletter, enjoy and reply back with any comments about this one or ideas or suggestions to make this better for next month. Recruiter of The Month Cpl. Doctor_girl, SA of the Crusaders, bringing in at least 10 new members to the clan.
Donator of The Month Cpl. Billwardak, SM of the Crusaders. Thank you and to all those who have donated. Squadmates Come Together
Cpl. High_roller5634, Hunters' SL, had his PS3 fry during a scrim turing it into a shiny black paper weight. Some fellow squadmates have gotten together and pitched in to help him get a new one to which he has deep appreciation for them and proud being a Hunter. It goes to show what type of members we have and how we come together to help. It's one of the finer qualities of the 13th. A salute goes out to those members and the passing of high_roller's PS3.
So Many Scrims
There was a big increase in scrims this past month. Barracudas with the Autumn Forge Blitzkrieg challenge having 2 matches currently at 1-1. The Warlords won against ASAF in a tight match of CQ 12v12. BF3/PS losing both matches against TP and AOW. TF forfeited 2 matches with P4F and BF3/PC due to not having enough members. BF3/PC lost against VG with 1-2. Nighthawks, the only in-clan match this month, split in two teams with (Mofo, Machete, Strikezzy) beating (Skarbrand, John, Vertez, and Juuzeff). The Seminoles are finding their way back into GameBattles (GB) over at MajorLeagueGaming (MLG). If we were keeping tabs, all-in-all, the 13th vs The World for April would be 4-4.
The ACE Team
The ACE team has been launched to not only limit or cancel-out competitive-style squad practices in turn for more "fun" ones but, to have a place for competitive-type players to represent the 13th in scrims and competitions. The team is based on dedication, communication, teamwork, and skills. If you have dedication and some of the other attributes and are interested in joining, speak with your Squad Leaders for more information. Certain requirements are expected.
Activity
Eagles took a 4 week vacation with the majority becoming too busy in RL to attend practices or even check the forums. Now, well rested and ready, they are back or must of just said to hell with RL, who wants to play that game anyway. The Seminoles had their highest practice attendance in months and getting back on their feet after an SL fall out. Without activity there is no squad and no squad means no division and utlimately no clan. So activity is key in keeping this clan fun and up and running. Try to keep activity levels up and we'll all have more fun, otherwise you'll be playing alone as you once did before joining.
BF3 Private Console Servers
The BF3 private console servers has brought new life, possibilities, and opportunity into the BF3 console platoons and the clan. Allowing for training courses, scrims, and just having fun without stats being penalized. Currently we have a few PS3 and one Xbox servers.
| Just Keep Recruiting, Just Keep...
We've hit a new record high with 200+ newly registered members last month. The average percentages of those registered, who submitted an application (50%) who then passed the test (35%) remain the same as other months. Significant gains were found with PC and XB, BF and CoD, and more specifically BF3/PC and MW3/XB both hitting double digits for the first time. This could have been due to a number of things, more activity on the recruiting forums both bumpers and lookers, Insevin's http://join13.info site, or Doctorl_girl's outstanding recruiting efforts, nobody knows for sure. Just keep up the great work, bump forums, recruit from servers, anywhere/anything you can think of, this goes for all 13th members.
More Training Courses
A few training courses have sprung up, mostly for BF3/PS but a few for P4F. Courses ranging from Recon to Air, to tactics. If interested, go on and sign up, you may just earn a badge for it. If you have an idea for a training course and would like to run one, just follow these instructions.
Cpl. AWulle Takes The Monthly Interview
Cpl. AWulle, SA of Warlords, repsonds to the following questions.

If you were a squad/platoon/clan leader for 1 day, what would you do? A: Have a paintball match amongst the members, ending with a BBQ and free beer for everyone, except for the minors, they get lemonade.
Have you ever heard Mekline talk and will you ever? A: Ive heard him talk many times. More then bronx come to think about it.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how happy are you being a 13th member or the 13th in general? A: 8, its really a part of my life now. |
Thank you to everyone who pitched in giving me information to make up this Newsletter. It was a lot, more than I expected to get, which is great. Of course I had to pick and choose or it would have made it longer than it is already. If anyone has anything that they'd like to see on the frontpage just PM ME. Be sure to look for a PM for next month. |
