Hey guys. Perhaps you have missed the memo. But a playlist works the same as a channel would. Except you can use it to list videos that are uploaded by other channels. If we were to run our own YouTube channel we would need to upload all of our own videos, meaning that we would either have to give out the password to everyone who wants to upload videos, which is the most insecure method ever. Like giving away your password to an admin account. Because if even one of those trusted members pulls an Axx they can easily log on and delete all of our videos or otherwise vandalize them.
Or have one or two trusted unloaders who take videos that others have made and put them up. But that method has many flaws as well. The main one being file size. If you want good quality video you could be looking at 50 mb - 2 gb files of video. That isn't exactly something you can send in an email. You would have to upload it to Megaupload or something like that (which is awfully slow btw), then send the link to the file over to one of the uploaders, then one of the unloaders must then download the video, and upload it again to YouTube. Which is a very long process and there is chance for error, such as the uploading site such as Megaupload going down or losing the file (I have heard from others, its happened). Plus if we trust this to a bunch of uploaders, what happens if one of them goes rouge and messes with the channel? You could argue that I could pull an Axx and delete our playlist, but then what would we lose? I don't own the videos featured there and a new playlist can easily be set up by another member. Plus I am not a ***hole who would sabotage the clan if I decided to leave.
And what do we gain by doing this? Arguably not much. We have a few more customization and theme options and a subscribe button, but thats it. And it IMO does not look any more professional then a playlist. I think in this case the extra work outweighs any possible benefits. If you want to do recruitment videos, that is cool, you can pm me and I can add it to the playlist instead of having to create a new channel for it.
