I started the new DLC last night after the kids went to bed.

You lose everything except for some good items like the Vault 13 Canteen.

Even though I am playing in Hardcore, the typical loss of H2O, Food & Sleep is not acting the same.

All I can say is collect the typical junk for making Weapon Repair Kits, as well as collect stuff for the recipes as well as the new Sierra Madre vending machine.

DO NOT FORGET to look behind doors when you open and enter a room. I have found some good stuff hiding behind an opened door.

You will be able to find and make enough weapon repair kits to fix up the holo rifle into a decent gun. Use the Police .357 for the speakers. Have found but haven't yet used the automatic rifle.

Only way to get back health seems to be with stimpacks, water and food. sleep does not work.

So far a fully charges (75+%) holo rifle is the best weapon against the ghost people. A "clean" knife for the final kill.

Only thing I don't like about the new DLC is the constant dark look and feel of the new environment. I have collected & made some ghost site, same as cateye, but haven't used it yet.

Watch out for trip wires, frag mines. Explosive skill points of 30+ is recommended?need to disarm some of the hanging grenade traps in order to collect the frag grenades.

I'm so glad I took "pack rat" as one of my perks, which causes everything at a weight of 2 or lower to drop in half. It was really a big help for carrying sufficient ammo like to 50mm/MC cells in The Mojave. In Sierra Madre it allows you to carry twice as much small stuff before off loading to DOG or cashing in at a machine.

DO NOT consolidate any clothing you find in Sierra Madre. It does not help the Vending Machine [return] value you get in Sierra caps. Opps. Smile

I'm not sure if I like the new DLC. It feels too much like starting over rather than building upon whatever achievements and weapons collection you had developed in The Mojave.

Well that's it for now.

Axx

From what I've seen from a couple walkthroughs, you lose all your weapons at the beginning of the game. Somehow you're given an energy weapon to start out with, but it's low on ammo.

It looks like a pretty tough DLC, however..I haven't even finished the regular game. I didn't get the game until around 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to take my time to locate everything in the game.

Update...

Just finished Sierra Madre on Hardcore. Whew. I'm glad that's done. The whole enviroment look/feel was quite depressing.

Now for the Good & the Bad.

1st the GOOD: I made it out of the Vault with 37 GOLD bars. Smile Since I had the Fast Travel while Heavy perk, I also made it out with a bunch of good stuff. The HoloRifle fully upgraded and loaded with Max Overload MF ammo offers 156/180 dam/dps, 2nd only to the Gauss Rifle & YSC/xxx Rifle, which use 5/4 MF ammo rounds respectively, while the HoloRifle only uses a single MF round.. I'm gonna have to try the HoloRifle out on some DeathClaws. Smile Found almost all of the stuff I really wanted as far as vending machine codes, Sierra Madre Snow Globe. 2000 Sierra Chips bonus for finding the snow globe. Returned to The Mojave with just over 4200 Sierra Chips, which should last awhile. Given how cheap Vending Machine Weapon Upgrade Kits are, I upgraded and sold almost all of the Sierra Madre weapons. This boosted my caps total by almost 60K caps. Smile

I didn't find all of the Secret Stashes and I only found 4/5 of the playing cards. No real bonuses for these challenges from what I have read, unless there was a suitcase with a ton of Sierra Chips. I think the Snow Globe room was the mother load of Sierra Chips.

Now the BAD: E-DE has turned hostile. If I enter Nash's store/home, E-DE kills Nash and his wife and then turns on me. I have tried the Ranger Takedown and then trying to trigger the dialog/conversation without success. I figure I'll leave E-DE waiting there until there is a fix/solution. E-DE was carrying The Machine & Euclid's Finder. I can pick pocket either item if I have too, but I would rather wait to see if a fix arrives.

Oblivion really does suck. If you're not getting caught/stuck somewhere on the map, corrupting an auto save, or just plain glitching into a system freeze, stuff like E-DE going berserk happens. I really grew to hate them for how poorly KOTOR 1 & 2 behaved on the XBOX. Now this...

Sad

All Right. I was able to fix EDE. Whew!

The trick was to go into Nash's store/house alone. While in the transition phase of entering the house, I began tapping the right bumper to trigger VATS as soon as possible. Once inside and VATS was active, I scanned the room to target EDE. I saw YELLOW instead of RED for EDE's health bar indicator, I was then able to exit VATS and enter the dialog mode with EDE. From there it was normal stuff.

EDE is back and nobody died.
