| Hey all! I've been wondering what this "Squadplay Attitude" stat was all about. It can be found on some BFBCS signatures and can only be seen as a percentage or ratio. So I did some research and it turns out its an arbitrary metric for measuring... you guessed it... "Squad Play Attitude". The squadplay attitude formula is as follows. - Code:
-
(Team score + squad score) / (objective score + bonus score) The higher the numerator (team+squad score) and the lower the denominator (obj+bonus score), the higher the ratio and therefore the higher the percentage. IMHO, this metric is somewhat useless in that I've noticed many great players as a person's squadplay attitude % is >100%, but that person could've been in a tank. However, performance also requires the help of teammates to help you get to where you are. Therefore, that person had to have a good gunner (whose squadplay attitude may not be as top notch) in order to keep alive, to swat the UAV and pesky close-ranged engineers. What these stats strive to do is to measure how a person reacts to the environment and to orders as much as possible by creating "Squad Attack / Defend" orders. However, the degree of success is difficult to measure, and therefore hard to score, so DICE makes it worth all a fixed value. In summary, my definitions of a "good team player" and a person with "good squad play attitude" very loosely bound to formulas, and even yet, not set in stone at all. What defines the said player is their willingness and communication to follow orders and get the job done, to be able to survey the battlefield and make adjustments to battle plans if necessary, to be as sneaky, cunning, or resourceful as possible. These are skills not merited by the game (as if the game can measure how much a person talks -- then it would be a SPAMMING B*TCH-FEST) but are good in my book. Willingness & communication, that's the attitude I'd like to see in every [13] member on any battlefield. PS: This turned out to be a lot deeper and meaningful than intended. Sorry! |

| I am always communicating with my squad very well and you can ask anyone in 13th who has played with me and they'll agree, however my squadplay attitude is 56%. I find the formula to be bullshit. |

| The formula isn't BS. The statistic, the fact it exists may be BS, but the point of this thread is that you'll need more information besides simply distilling a players actions into mere numbers as the product of fanciful numerical manipulation.
Again, I didn't want this to be a measuring of whose genitals are longer, but an exposition of how stats can be relatively irrelevant and sometimes nondescript as it only paints a fractional picture of a player.
If you want the whole picture, try googling The Grand Unified Theory; several Nobel Prizes are in order to the people who can find the big picture.

I just believe there can never be a correct formula to measure how you cooperate in a squad as squads can function is numerous amounts of ways. It is completely unpredictable in my opinion. |
