When I went to play my Xbox earlier today, I was greeted with dreaded red ring of death as I turned the console on. It was three sections of the ring associated with general hardware failure and the error code 0021 (found by pressing the sync and the eject button), which means my south bridge chipset is not properly connected to the DVD drive or its a GPU error which may have been caused by a weak connection to the main board. And the worst part is that my Xbox is out of warranty by a few weeks and it will cost $100 to have it repaired. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas that might be able to fix it, and I'm willing to try anything to fix it.

If you can't find a fix you should go and buy one of the new slim 360's.

Apparently it doesn't get the RROD.

No, the new one still has the RROD. Just comes to show that you can put a tux on a turd and it will sell.

My electronic skills aren't too good, but I would have thought there'd be some guides online. Maybe try posting in the xbox forums etc?

No, the new one still has the RROD. Just comes to show that you can put a tux on a turd and it will sell.

Actually, the new one will have a warning displayed on screen to turn off the system and protect against RROD.

I actually managed to fix it!. All I did was wrap it in a few towels and a blanket and leave it on for a few hours and now it works. Also, Pig is right, the new console just shuts down, it doesn't even have the red LEDs on it.

By the power of xbox, we will prevail!
