By 2023, there is hope to settle a colony in Mars. The 'Mars One' program, is a program that will send humans into Mars, in a one-way trip. Humans will live on Mars, and setup infrastructures, to colonize the planet. Due to logistical purposes, this is a one-way trip, so a return to Earth is highly improbable, and it is more intentionally a permanent establishment.
Anyone interested? I think we all know who we would want to send up there *cough* Goldfusion *cough*

Eh. It seems like a lot of fun. But after say...A year passes. I'd want to go back home. I'd have to be like 1 or 2 and raised there to enjoy spending the rest of my life there. Earth is too comfy

I'm interested in going, until the one-way part of it. But in this case, it's not only logistically logical, but medically as well, so.
I guess if you're girlfriend's angry father doesn't let you guys go out, and she tells you that she wants to run away with you, you know where to go

How did you just now hear about this? They have been talking about this stuff for years.
It probably wont even happen because of ethics though, which is kinda sad. But hopefully the earth will be ready to take this huge step someday.

Red, this has been in discussion for years, actually for a millennium, but has been in operation since of recently. I'm not going to put up a topic about the discussion, but of the actual application you can send if you're interested.
And what do you mean ethics? It's happening now as we speak. They plan to send humans by 2023. This is an entire program, which is happening right now, that is planning to colonize Mars. The only thing is that it's a permanent trip, due to logistical and medical reasons.
And DayTex, I've seen that RTAA. Pretty funny, but in this case, there's an actual mission timeline in which humans that go there must complete. Think about it: You're starting a civilization, a colony, on another planet. It's not like you would just sit there all day.

Why me though?

Then who would be active on the forums and spam threads? Or, who would instruct the airborne course? Or...who would troll Goldfusion?!
