If you don't own the game, it's actually free. You can download it off the site, as long as you have the Source SDK 2006 tool and Steam installed. After doing so, you can download it and play it with no trouble.

Well, I was able to play through the tutorial, but today I'm going to get on some servers. If enough people join, we can make a private server, and that would be fun

Do I need to buy Half Life 2 to play this mod?

No you do not. Though I highly recommend you purchase Half-Life 2, you don't need it to run the game. All you need is Steam, and the Source SDK Base 2006 tool. I recommend you download the other Source Engine tools, just to run other mods.

If you guys want, I might play it later today, maybe after some Payday 2. So far, I know I can get me, Edster, Storm, RPG, Bebris, and maybe you Death. With that, we can do a private server.

Game looks amazingly fun. I've also watched Seananners and friends play this game. Probably one of the biggest laughs I've ever had watching a video, lol.
