1. Situation: The 13th MEUs efforts in Sangin Province have hit the Taliban hard. They have been forced back into the mountain region of Tora Bora. The 13th MEU has moved in, and has set up FOB Lightning in the central area of Tora Bora. The civilians are likely to be friendly, as they have heard of the success in Sangin Province, however this will make them more expectant for the 13th MEU to do it's job well.
2. Own Probable Mission: 1Plt. has been tasked to clear the area immediately surrounding FOB Lightning in order to make the area safer for friendly troops and the local Afghans, in an effort to win hearts and minds.
3. Own Main Effort: Our squad is to patrol east of FOB lightning, towards the Silawa Valley. Intel indicates the Taliban have ammo caches in the villages of Yak Ghar and Sanaag Bari, we are to destroy them. We expect the enemy to have laid IEDs in their typical manner, so we are to destroy or disarm any found on the road. Also, we are to draw out enemy forces into conducting ambushes along the road, and then destroy the enemy.
4. Enemy Forces: Mostly Unknown expected to have 10 in Yak Ghar, roadside IEDs, AK-47s and RPG-7s.
5. Friendly Forces: 2x HMVs 1 with medical equipment
