As some of you guys know, I'm studying Industrial Design.
One of the design tasks we got this semester, was with EAP foil.
This foil can be controlled by sending a small electrical current to it. So basically, it's (a very high resolution) grid where you can move certain points. It can be compared to a LCD screen, but instead of visual, it gives motion feedback.

I did use this foil to enable blind people to use smartphones and tablets. The device connects through Bluetooth and the CPU of the phone/tablet is used to translate the text (or even images) to braille or dots that represent the image.
Moving the finger makes you navigate, the tip is equipped with a Laser (cfr. lasermouse).

As slogan I'd use: Feel the future.
Short description: Visualising device for visually impaired people.
Any feedback is welcome, I have a presentation for BaYeR (germany) the day after tomorrow. The final defense is begin of februari.

hmm spino that name could be taken mildly offensive, considering the company vanhoucke does this work for is serious business, I don't think they'll like the name

Death, I like the idea, I supose with Vis you want to lay the emphasis on visualisation. As that is a method a visual impaired person can use to read materials. I wanted to stay within the context of the Slogan, myself though

I tried to think of something yesterday, but I was too sleepy.

Anyways, I like names that are simple and to the point. So I'd probably use something like "Relief Screen" or "Textured Screen". I don''t know.

Edit: I noticed I miss understood the concept. O.o How about "Braille your Cel"

Just checked the name. There is a magazine called digit (http://www.thinkdigit.com/) But I'm sure that it doesn't matter for your project, just thought that I'd point it out just in case Good luck regardless

Maybe DigiTouch or DigiView or VueDigi, Divito, Divite, Vibraille, TouchView, C-Digital, Vidite, Vigit. Braive. Or FingerIt. I like FingerIt. Just think of all the commericals and ads you could do with that. LOL.

Ow, I missed some replies here..
The presentation for Holst went OK, but the contact person did not really understand what exactly the device can do. This was due to the 4minutes we got for the presentation, where we had to explain everything. (from idea generation and brainstorming to material selection and components selection).
The project will finish 3rd February, so I'll continue to work on this starting this monday (after my CAE exam).

I try to be active, but I only manage to spend some minutes on forum checks.
I'll be back in active duty 4th-5th of February.

And if I receive the evaluation, I'll reply here how it was
