| Nice rig. I did use search function a couple of times, but didn't find a topic specifically on this subject. I have a nice Pc at home too, but not allowed to use it to game. It has 8CPU's @ 2.8Ghz Quadro FX3500 8Gigs of RAM
When I finish my studies I'll buy a new PC, looking forward to that :-) |

| I mostly game on my XBox as all my other machines are for work, but I occasionally game on them.
Core Hardwares :
Apple Mac Book Pro 15" : Core 2 Duo 2.2GHz 4GB RAM, Nvidia 8400, 120GB Hard Drive
Sun Microsystems Ultra 20 M2 x 2 : 2.8GHz Dual Core Opterons, 16GB RAM, Quadro FX1500 / Quadro NVS285 running Vista Business and Solaris 10 with 500GB of Mirrored Raid.
I then pipe all the visuals through my projector, a Sanyo PLC-WXU300 and I also have a nasty Dell 17" Monitor and a JBL Powered Monitoring rig for sound. Outboard I have an LG DVD Burner, 250GB LaCie Hard Drive, Cisco Soho 97 Router & HP Procurve Layer 3 Switch. |

| Ohh, Oh yeah I was thinking of doing that :3 I Mean I have a big case from the Window 95 days so why not ^^
So endrane, errr you know my 512MB comp right ?^^
If I got that MB+CPU deal for around $120, what else would I need to get? I know like RAM and stuff, but what type and everything. What can I keep from my computer? Keep in mind, the parts are all 10 years old except for the Video card which is like 7 years old. |

| Well, one thing I can say, that motherboard runs RAM at a very low level. The maximum for that computer is 1066 at only DDR2. Mine, for comparison, runs RAM at DDR3 at 1600 Mhz. I don't know, that one flaw. But I don't think it will make much of a difference. Some good things I noticed: HDMI, DVI, VGA, and HDPC graphics input. That's 2 more than normal And... it comes with integrated graphics.... Geforce 8200. I'll see about what you need to do for your comp |

| Look up Sony VAIO RS420 or RS-420.
I mean I have all the basics and stuff, and I meant could I keep my hard drive (I could get another possibly) or CD/DVD drives?
And power supply can stay too possibly, dunno as long as it has a P1 connector or something.
And err, the MB/CPU combo comes with a fan too right? |

What's a man cave [/quote$] $120 for the mobo&cpu combo, another $45 cpu fan,$48memory & $98 for vid card. everything else i had or got at no cost.the memory is higher now,its $64 i built this pc january 5th 2009,i shoulda spnt lil more for 1 with dual pci-express X16 slots 1 of the reviews on the mobo said wouldnt boot using memory with latencey of 1.8volt,worked using 2.1 volts.so i went with super t. |

And err, the MB/CPU combo comes with a fan too right? I had +- same pc, when it was 5 years old I got it to study (but it didn't do so well to game..) That's why I bought those parts: -Nex grafic card -2x512MB RAM extra (I had 4slots ) -Sound card (not necessary, but 5.1surround to game, I like) That was a little less then €100. Atm, the dual cores, core2duo,... were too expensive.. But after half a year I was forced to buy a laptop (school..). You can put new parts in the pc, but those 2,8Ghz processors are very nice ones. I would put some more RAM into it, new grafix too. (and now I prefer win7 above winXP) But maybe for €250-300 you can buy a better, and above all, new system. If you post the specs, we could search something nice and compare the options ;-) |
