| http://battlefield.play4free.com/en/forum/showthread.php?tid=91479&pid=991627The semi-automatic sniper rifle, the SKS, has been released. | Looks good, I'm guessing they probably modeled the stats on the VF3 SKS which I love, so this should be pretty good. Price is a bit steep though, can't afford now :'( But yeah, they finally released it. WOOH! |

| I got this thing at like 10AM and it is garbage. L96 has same rate of fire (based on actually being accurate) and has better distance and damage |

| Why compare it to the L96? The L96A1 is a bolt-action rifle, the SKS is a semi-automatic. All the statistics I compared it to the M14 EBR, SVD, and M110 SASS.
Battle Rifles are underrated. Everybody goes for the mainstream rifles such as the M95 and L96A1, but BR's in the game are excellent IMO, and with proper usage, can provide great frontline suppression. The whole ideal of BR's is to break the barrier between infantry/rifleman and sniper. This fulfills you the role of a marksman, in which you can have the precision of a sniper, yet mobility of standard infantry units.
The SKS is the best out of all, and the M14 EBR, M110 SASS, and SVD are great providers as well, each having their strengths and weaknesses. |

| The whole point being is that L96 and SKS are a completely different category of weapons. The SKS falls under the Battle Rifle, while the L96A1 falls under Sniper Rifle. Might as well compare the M249 SAW and the SAIGA-12 too. |

| Will has a point. Battle rifle or not, a real sniper can use his gun at close range and not rely on a semi-auto or a pistol. I mean, I used to be able to quickscope with the old pre-Dec 1st M24, and you can with the L96. Its so much more effective than the semi auto crap that EAsy is giving us... |

| I bought it just for a change of pace . It's decent enough. not too good with my attachments since mine is focused on long range counter sniping, but still a pretty fun gun to use and , with the right attachments, im sure would be a pretty beastly rifle. |

Any firearm can be used in close-range. The whole point is what is dominant, and suitable, and exceeds at that particular range. The whole ideal of a BR is not to have a precision at close-range, but is rather to have the mobility of infantryman/rifleman and precision of a sniper all in a compact role, providing versatility both in the frontline, and far off the flank. Battle Rifle's are not made to make you a more aggressive Recon; they are made to provide a more precise frontline suppression with high-damage fire. In a firefight, if you get someone with a DMR, you got accurate, high-damage shots in that fight. |

| Not everyone is great with a sniper. Besides, bolt action and semi auto rifles in P4F are extremely different. |
