| I need a new laptop and I am wondering what model i should get. my budget is a little over $800 and I am looking for a fast computer good for light gaming and movie making/editing as this will be used to make and upload to the seminoles youtube. i was thinking something with a i7 2nd generation but i am open to anything.
please post any suggestions you might have.

| dear lord, if i knew you had an 800 dollar budget, you could get a computer built for you, prob could even pay someone to do it, and lets say you pay then 100 (a random figure) and then still have 700 left, look at this http://pcpartpicker.com/ |

| That's nice swodaem but, he's looking for a laptop.
@ 800 it might not be easy to find an i7, not at least without swapping for something lower |

| trister ive been to best buy and they have 2 laptops im looking at. one has a i7 1st gen and is 730$ with a bigger screen. and the other is i7 2nd generation for 750$ but it has a smaller screen, both have beats audio and all the bells and whistles. do you think id be better off with a i5 that is newer?
and swodaem i would have no clue what i was doing if i tryed to build a pc. and i dont know anyone that could build one for me even if i payed them. i would be so clueless |

| if your looking for the portablility of a laptop, then go for it. i am just saying it would get you farther to build your own. i cant even build my own i dont trust myself. but for a laptop, uhhhhh, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834200510 this is what i came up with, seach parameters: highest rated, 500-750, dell. jsut to compare a factory desktop to a factory laptop if you so choose. even if you dont wanna build your own, and dont care for portablility, then a desktop will prob give you more power to your punch |

| What laptops are you looking at? It's best if we can see the specs.
What is more important to you, performance or screen size and is battery life a concern or you going to have the thing plugged in mostly.
It's a give and take. If you want screen size you may have to sacrifice performace.
Either of those CPUs will handle "light" gaming, so no concern there. But if you're doing lots of video editing, with lots of special effects and long videos, then the i7 would be best as it will process faster than the i5. If possible, I'd stick with 3rd Gen, if not 2nd. I wouldn't buy 1st. |

| thanks trister! i definitly care more about performance than screen size. battery life isnt a issue because it will be plugged in all the time. i have no clue what those computers names were though. i should have wrote them down! anyway what computers with i7 2nd and 3rd generaton would you reccomend? |

| I could build a tower for you or instruct you on doing it, its not as complicated as it looks, and I personally always go for AMD, better bang for my buck |
